Matthew Hearn '13 Memorial Scholarship

The Matthew Hearn Memorial Scholarship was founded in the fall of 2020 after the passing of Matthew Hearn ’13, by his loving parents, Regina and James.

“We shall walk together on this path of life,
for all things are part of the universe and are
connected with each other to form one whole unity.”

Maria Montessori

For 11 years at Norwood-Fontbonne Academy, Matthew Hearn ’13, lived, learned and loved these words of Maria Montessori. He was the type of student who reached out to his classmates and made sure everyone was included and had whatever they needed. ‘How can I help you?’ wasn’t just a question to Matthew. It was a direct line to his faith-filled desire to be like Jesus, “to live and work so that all people may be united to God and one another” SSJ/NFA mission statement, and to share the gospel values in his compassionate heart. 💕

He believed we were all connected to each other and the unity that was formed was meant to be shared with family, NFA friends, dear neighbors...and the whole Earth community. Matthew’s heart held so much for others: hope, faith and most of all LOVE. His NFA SPIRIT was strong, generous and so inclusive. The memory of his JOY-FILLED presence and smile, still light-up a room and fills our hearts with belief in the God who LOVES and cares for us all.  Matthew, to you we say…”your life was a continuous ACT OF LOVE.” SSJ Maxim 4
