HOUSE PHASES SCHEDULE
A gentle welcome for our youngest learners in the Montessori and Pre-Primary program.
At NFA, we strive to make the transition at the start of the school year as smooth and supportive as possible for our youngest learners. To achieve this, we implement a brief phase-in schedule for all Houses during the first week of school. This allows children and teachers time to build relationships, learn routines, and establish a calm, predictable classroom environment before all students are together full time.
For the upcoming school year, we are moving to a two-day phase-in model for our Montessori Houses. This adjustment supports a more efficient start while still honoring the developmental needs of our youngest students and maintaining the mentoring structure that is central to Montessori classrooms.
During this phase-in, new students are gradually introduced to their environment first. Returning students then join, with older Montessori students stepping into leadership roles that help support classroom routines and community expectations. This approach helps set a strong foundation for independence, care, and connection across the classroom community.
We understand that the start of the year schedule is different from a typical school week, and we appreciate families’ flexibility. Should you have any questions about the phase-in process or schedule, please contact Principal Kathryn Henry (khenry@norfon.org).
