Three members of the Norwood-Fontbonne Academy Class of 2024, and current sophomores at La Salle College High School, were recently honored by La Salle. Rhys Barr '24, Jay Churchill '24, and Ethan Nienhuis '24 earned both a Scholastic “L” Award (First Honors) and an Outstanding Academic Achievement Award with a final GPA of 4.0 or higher for the 2024-2025 academic year. Congratulations, Rhys, Jay, and Ethan! Go Bears!

Congratulations to Norwood-Fontbonne Academy alum Matthew Stitt '01 on being named to Philadelphia magazine's "150 Most Influential People in Philadelphia" list! Stitt is currently the Managing Director of PFM and is a Senior Distinguished Fellow at the Fels Institute of Government at the University of Pennsylvania. He served in various roles for the city of Philadelphia, including Chief Financial Officer.

Meg Kane '95 was named to Philadelphia magazine's "150 Most Influential People in Philadelphia" list.

Norwood-Fontbonne Academy alumna Maddie Burns '16, a former University of Michigan defender, will compete with the U.S. Women’s National Team at this month’s Intercollegiate Women’s Lacrosse Coaches Association (IWLCA) President’s Cup in Lakewood Ranch, Florida. The event features more than 500 teams and an expected 10,000 athletes.

On Wednesday, October 29, students in Grades 1-3 will join in a Halloween Parade at 1pm on the Fontbonne Campus. Parents of students in these grades are invited to watch, while students in Grades 4-8 and the houses will cheer on the parade and hand out treats.

Norwood-Fontbonne Academy is thrilled to announce a new partnership with the Positive Coaching Alliance (PCA), a nationally recognized nonprofit dedicated to transforming the culture of youth and high school sports to create a more positive, inclusive, and character-building experience for all student-athletes.

Marianne Canuso is retiring from Norwood-Fontbonne Academy after more than 30 years of teaching.

On June 30, Norwood-Fontbonne Academy alumna Maddie Burns '16 and the U.S. women’s lacrosse team defeated Canada, 21-11, to win the inaugural Pan-American Women’s Lacrosse Championship in Auburndale, Florida. The victory capped off a dominant tournament in which the team dispatched Puerto Rico, Peru, Mexico and Haudenosaunee and earned a spot in next summer’s World Lacrosse Women’s Championship in Tokyo.

Annmarie Greenberg is retiring after 42 years at Norwood-Fontbonne Academy.

After 48 years, Anne Porter will retire from Norwood-Fontbonne Academy leaving an incredible legacy.

We are excited to partner with the American Red Cross on Sunday, May 25 to launch the first of what we hope will be many blood drives. We’ll be working together to give back to the community in a truly life changing way since each donation we collect can save up to three lives. 

We are excited to announce that NFA will implement a Tech-Free Week from February 10-14. During this week, students and staff will refrain from using digital devices as much as possible.

An essay written by Caroline B. '24 was selected as the "Middle School" category winner of the 2023 American Freedom Essay Contest, a prominent, national writing contest.

NFA alumna Meg Kane '95 was instrumental in helping Philadelphia be one of the host cities for the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

Norwood-Fontbonne Academy, a coed Catholic independent academy for preschool to eighth grade students located in the Chestnut Hill section of Philadelphia, has been sponsored by PIDC, Philadelphia’s public-private economic development corporation, and has been awarded a Local Share Account Grant from the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania in the amount of $400,000 to support enhancements and improvements to the NFA campus.

Fourth grade students at Norwood-Fontbonne Academy completed their poetry unit this month. Using the “Golden Shovel” method by Nicki Grimes, students wrote their own poems using the opening line of Langston Hughes’ poem, The Dream Keeper.

The focus of Norwood-Fontbonne Academy's sixth grade media studies class is to "ensure access to water and sanitation for all," which is United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6.
