Norwood-Fontbonne Academy is pleased to announce that Angel Ricks will be joining the NFA team to build on our efforts in Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Belonging. Ms. Ricks will be working alongside school leadership and staff to help further our strategic plan goals within the Belonging and Inclusion domain. Born out of the Strategic Plan were specific goals related to this domain. Specifically, to co-create a community and culture of belonging that responds to the lifelong call to be engaged persons who impact the world with a love that unites. This includes:
- Providing opportunities for the NFA community to celebrate diversity in all forms
- Becoming a community educated on natural bias and its effects
- Ensuring curriculum and facilities to address the needs of diverse community
- Providing opportunities to bond and identify commonalities
- Broadening our understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion through institutional partnership
Ms. Ricks is currently a graduate student at Rosemont College where she is pursuing a Masters of Education in Higher Education, Student Affairs, and Administration. She earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Special Education Certification from Rosemont College. She also earned a certificate in Leadership, Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, and Bias from Neumann University.
During her time as an undergraduate student at Rosemont, Ms. Ricks participated in the NCAA Inclusion Forum and also served as Rosemont’s Athletic Coordinator of Student Success and Engagement, where she developed a program to help ensure the academic success of student-athletes. Ms. Ricks previously served as a science teacher for Germantown Academy Summer Programs and as a teaching assistant at an early childhood center in Philadelphia.
