Sixth Grade Water Summit

Sixth Grade Water Summit

The focus of Norwood-Fontbonne Academy's sixth grade media studies class is to "ensure access to water and sanitation for all," which is United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 6.

With that said, students in Ms. Monteiro and Dr. Stotz's class recently created their own non-profit organizations, including logos and mission statements, that supports a country impacted by water and sanitation issues. Student then created a prototype of their product that they designed to clean and sanitize water. To take it a step further, students then pitched their ideas to Riley Beetner, Director of Institutional Advancement at NFA. Mrs. Beetner listened to the group's pitches in hopes to grant students "money" that would be allocated towards building their solution.

Final projects will be on display at the NFA Water Summit at the end of the year. Ms. Monterio and Dr. Stotz said “We are thoroughly impressed with the research, development, and execution of each group's design solution. We are proud to teach our Global Change Agents everyday, but today was something special.”
