After Care Assistants for 2026-2027 School Year

Norwood-Fontbonne Academy seeks passionate and dedicated After Care for for the 2026–2027 school year.

The After Care Assistant supports the supervision and care of students during our after-school program, which serves children from age 3 through 5th grade. Responsibilities include ensuring student safety, assisting with activities and homework, supporting positive behavior, and helping maintain a calm, welcoming environment at the end of the school day. The ideal candidate is dependable, enjoys working with children of various ages, and can collaborate effectively with aftercare staff to provide a safe and engaging experience for all students. Hours are part-time and flexible; the program runs Monday through Friday from 2:30 - 6:00pm, with shifts being flexible for days and hours worked. 

  • Supervise students ages 3 through 5th grade during aftercare hours (2:30–6:00 PM - assigned hours may vary depending on availability)
  • Ensure a safe, caring, and respectful environment at all times
  • Assist with structured activities, free play, and homework time
  • Support positive behavior and follow school expectations and aftercare procedures
  • Help with transitions (snack time, outdoor play, dismissal, etc.)
  • Communicate concerns or incidents promptly to the Aftercare Coordinator
  • Assist with setup and cleanup of aftercare spaces and materials
  • Work collaboratively with aftercare staff and follow direction from lead supervisors

Requirements

  • Enjoy working with children of varying ages and developmental levels
  • Responsible, reliable, and punctual
  • Ability to follow instructions and school policies
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills
  • For high school students:
     
    • Must meet school age/employment eligibility requirements
       
    • Willingness to learn and take direction from lead staff
  • For adult staff:
    • High school diploma required; college coursework or degree in education, child development, or a related field preferred?
       
  • Ability to remain attentive, patient, and engaged throughout the program hours
     
  • Background checks and required clearances (as applicable by role and state regulations)
