HOW THE FROG GOT ITS COLOR by Benji There was a little frog that was white. There was also a big frog that was green. The big frog pushed the little frog into an orange maple. Then the little frog got an orange bump on his back and that's what he looks like today. Years later it is called Tyler's Tree Frog. HOW THE SUGAR GLIDER GOT ITS EXTRA SKIN AND FLEW by Justin The sugar glider used to have a big belly. He wanted to fly. He was jealous that the birds could fly. He tried to fly but he couldn't. Then he knew that he had to work out. After he was done working out, he had extra skin and could fly. That's how the sugar glider got its extra skin and flew. HOW THE PLATYPUS GOT ITS BILL by Riley Once there was a platyfus who saw a duck. The duck said, "Why don't you have a bill?" "I don't know." So the duck went up to the platypus and bit him!. The platypus looked at himself and said, "I have a bill!! Thanks you so much duck!" So the platypus went to tell the others. He bit another platypus who bit another platypus, and so on. HOW THE BLUE-TONGUED LIZARD GOT ITS BLUE TONGUE by Chase Once in Dreamtime there was a drought. It lasts for one whole year. There was a lizard who was so thirsty that he looked for weeks for water. Finally, he found a lake with fish and yummy blue water but he wasn't the first one there. A gingo was there eating a big fish. The lizard tried to get around the dingo to the other side, but the dingo saw the lizard and chased the lizard. Finally, the lizard lost the dingo. He went back to the lake and drank the blue water for days. He drank so much blue water that he got a blue squishy tongue. WHY KANGAROOS JUMP by Zach Once upon a time there was a kangaroo. HE was not a fast runner. He had to hide from the dingos because the dingos would eat him. One day he was so frustrated he swallowed a pogo stick. It traveled to his leg and he jumped. That's why kangaroos can jump. HOW THE RIVER SHARK GOT ITS NAME by Rory There once was a bird and a shark. The shark said, " I want to live in the river. The ocean scares me!" Then the bird picked up the shark and dropped it in a river. Then someone started calling it a river shark. Then everyone started calling it river shark, too. That's how the River Shark got its name. HOW THE FLYING FOX GET ORANGE FUR AROUND ITS NECK by Jordyn One day a Flying Fox wanted orange fur around its nekc. He want the orange fur so that he could stand out from his friends. Then his friend said, " You want orange fur around your neck?" "Yes." "THen go over to that puddle of orange sand and put your neck in it. Then it will turn orange." It worked. His friends said, "How did you get that orange fur?" "I will show you how. First, you roll your neck in that orange sand. Then rub it in with your wings." And it worked and everyone was happy. HOW THE LEAFY SEADRAGON GOT ITS LEAVES by Chris One day the leafy seadragon saw some leaves. So it went over the eat some of it. It at and ate. Then the leaves were all gone. He ate so much, he started to grow leaves all over his body. HOW WALLABIES GOT THEIR EARS by Elysha Once there was a wallaby. She could not hear because she had no ears. She was very bored so she started throwing rocks up in the air. They landed on her head and they stuck. That's how the wallabies got their ears. They now turn their ears so that they can hear to get food or to sense danger. HOW THE THORNY DEVIL GOT ITS THORNS by Christian One day there was a lizard. He was hungry so he went to eat ants that were carrying thorns. The next morning he had thorns all over him. That's how the Thorny Devil got its thorns. How the Stingray Became a Fish by Steele The stingray was once a bird until it started to rain. It's tail got struck by lightning. Then it fell into the water. It couldn't get out.
