Razzmatazz – What Parents Need to Know

Razzmatazz is the name of the NFA auction. Every other year, NFA Parents Association sponsors this awesome party which is the school’s biggest fundraiser. This year Razzmatazz is on February 27, 2010 at Sunnybrook Country Club.

The format this year is a bit different. We are hosting a Casino night including craps, blackjack, roulette and Texas hold ‘em. These games, along with silent and live auctions, lots of raffle items, and an open bar, will guarantee a great party!

As NFA Parents, you have many opportunities to support Razzmatazz. This year we are making a concentrated effort to provide parents with various ways to contribute in both monetary and non-monetary forms.

In order to assist your planning, we have included a list of all the ways you could help us meet our goals. Though we do rely on parent contributions we do not want anyone to feel obligated to donate money or gifts.

Opportunities for Parent Involvement

Class Raffle Baskets – Each house, JLM and grade will create a themed basket to be raffled at Razzmatazz. Parents will be invited by the Homeroom Parents to donate items to the baskets. Themes may include beach, Italian, Cooking, Exercise or other themes. Party goers will place their raffle tickets in their favorite baskets for a chance to win.

Class Gift- Each house, JLM and grade level will create a personalized item for the live auction at Razzmatazz. These are artistic gifts created by the children at school with the help of volunteer parents. Homeroom Parents will coordinate this project. Past gifts included hand printed bookcase, mirror with fingerprints, class DVD and pictures created by students.

Auction Items - Vacation homes, event tickets, trips and specialty dinners are donated by parents, businesses and friends of NFA for the silent and live auctions.

Super Gifts – Parents who want to contribute to the auction, but are not able to donate large gifts are invited to make cash contributions. These are pooled together to purchase other desirable auction items such as Wii, iPhones and trips to NYC. Any amount you can contribute is greatly appreciated.

Raffle Tickets - Everyone is invited to purchase raffle tickets, both in advance and the night of the party. These will give you a chance to win a “classroom raffle basket”. Your winnings at the casino will be awarded in raffle tickets for these baskets.

Tuition Raffle Tickets – These are also available to purchase in advance and at the auction. There are a limited number of tickets available at $100 each. The winner receives one full year of tuition at NFA.

Event Attendance – Book your babysitters NOW! The event is held on Saturday February 27th from 6pm – 11pm. Tickets are $75 and include $50 of “gambling” money. Your winnings will be cashed in for raffle tickets! Please plan on attending, bring an alum, prospective parent, grandparent or friend for a great night of fun.

Committee Volunteers - From decorating to ad sales to working the game tables, each committee is in need of multiple volunteers to assist with the planning and on the night of the party. Please contact Susie Valinis or Val Fiedler at susan.valinis@obermayer.com or dvfiedler@verizon.net.
