Norwood-Fontbonne Academy

Admissions Procedure

After receiving an inquiry regarding admission to Norwood-Fontbonne Acdemy, the Office  of Admission mails an application and admission folder to the inquiring family.  Upon receipt of a completed application and $75 application fee, the child is placed on the appropriate applicant list.   Parents of applicants are scheduled for individual tours which are conducted while school is in session.

Kindergarten accepts up to twenty-five students and the Montessori Preschool accepts up to thirty-two students each year.  Candidates are screened for readiness in the order of their application date.  These screenings are conducted throughout the months of January and February.  Letters of acceptance are issued on or after March 1st  Norwood-Fontbonne siblings are given the preference of first screening but are subject to the same admission criterion applied to every applicant.

Applicants to Grades 1 through 7 are required to attend classes during a two-day academic visit.  Prior to the visit, parents are to submit a REQUEST FOR RELEASE OF SCHOOL RECORDS form to the child’s current school.  They must also submit a TEACHER RECOMMENDATION FORM to the applicant’s current teacher.  All academic records and recommendations must arrive at NFA prior to the student’s scheduled academic visit.

Prospective students are encouraged to fully participate in the academic experience at NFA while the professional staff evaluates them within the instructional setting.  The evaluation of the student’s academic record along with a review of NFA’s academic visit are considered in NFA’s decision to accept a student.  NFA reserves the right to request educational testing if a question should arise concerning the student’s appropriate placement.

After a student is accepted to Norwood-Fontbonne Academy, parents receive a letter of acceptance and are asked to remit a $900 non-refundable deposit of enrollment which is applied to tuition.
